Southend Hospital Charitable Foundation

The Charitable Foundation is a registered charity which raises money for major fundraising projects at Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.  It was established in 1998 by a group of local people who wanted to help fund buildings and equipment not provided by NHS funding.

Past Appeals

£400,000 – Leukaemia Appeal

£450,000 – Building Blocks Appeal – for the Children’s Lighthouse Centre

£700,000 – Healing Hearts  – for a new state-of-the-art heart monitoring system

£400,000 – Pinpoint Cancer Appeal – for image-guided radiotherapy equipment

£750,000 – Strokebusters Appeal – towards a gold-standard Stroke Unit

£750,000  – Bosom Pals Appeal  – to buy two full field digital mammography machines

£500,000 – Bosom Pals Appeal On The Road  – for digital equipment for the mobile screening vans situated across South Essex

The current Keyhole Cancer Appeal aims to raise £600,000 to buy a new state-of-the-art laparoscopic (keyhole surgery) theatre suite at the hospital. Surgeons will be able to perform the latest and most complex keyhole procedures for patients undergoing cancer and general surgery.
